Vietnamese Restaurant Prices in Saigon 2026: Dish, Head

Main dishes roughly VND 90,000 to 360,000 and about VND 150,000 to 330,000 a head, from the pages we read. A source table, dates, and where Bếp Rơm sits.

From the pages we read, a main dish at a mid-range Vietnamese restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City costs roughly VND 90,000 to 360,000, and a meal about VND 150,000 to 330,000 a head. That is an inference from a handful of data points, not market statistics. Below we show where each number comes from, why they are hard to compare, and where Bếp Rơm sits.

The figures we read

All read on 5 October 2026. The “unit” column is how the source labels it, not our guess.

Source Figure Unit, per the source
Foody, Bếp Nhà Lục Tỉnh (District 1) VND 35,000 to 500,000; braised hú fish in a clay pot 180,000, sour soup with prawn 220,000, grilled free-range chicken 290,000, grilled squid with chilli salt 350,000, fresh coconut 55,000 Dish price range
Foody, Quán Bụi Garden (Thảo Điền) VND 50,000 to 250,000 Per dish
Mia.vn, 22 December 2025 About VND 90,000 to 95,000 Per dish
Mia.vn, 19 November 2025 VND 180,000 to 210,000; 150,000 to 330,000 for another place Not stated
Green SM, 8 January 2025 Nhà Hàng Ngon VND 150,000 to 180,000; Xóm Chợ Cũ 100,000 to 200,000; Bếp Mẹ Ỉn 100,000 to 300,000 Labelled “per person”
Mytour Cơm Xưa VND 120,000 to 180,000 Per person
Tiền Phong, 17 February 2026 Budget vegetarian places VND 35,000 to 40,000 Per portion
Square One, Park Hyatt From VND 1,950,000, before service charge and VAT Per guest

Two things in this table do not line up. Bếp Nhà Lục Tỉnh has a range of VND 35,000 to 500,000 on Foody (dish prices), and the very same range on Green SM, where it is labelled “per person”. A range that wide is hard to read as what one guest spends, so we treat the wide ranges as dish prices. And the two Mia pieces measure different things; we do not know how they calculate.

For the national picture, Tuổi Trẻ News on 11 April 2026 quotes a survey by iPOS.vn and Nestlé Professional: the share of people spending more than VND 100,000 on a dinner rose to 14.5% from 12.4% in 2024. The other 85.5% spend VND 100,000 or less. That includes budget places across the country, so we do not use it to set prices.

The conclusion, and where it is weak

Main dishes run about VND 90,000 to 360,000 (from the lowest Mia figure to Foody’s highest at VND 350,000, rounded up). A meal runs about VND 150,000 to 330,000 a head, taken from the ranges that state a unit. There are few sources, no page dates its prices, and in what we read most pages do not say whether VAT is included (Square One is the one that says it is not). Treat this as a direction, not a market price list.

Where Bếp Rơm sits

Every number below is worked out from our own menu. Prices include 8% VAT and there is no service charge.

  • Our twenty grill, braise and soup dishes (rice excluded) average VND 174,000, from VND 68,000 (morning glory with garlic) to VND 458,000 (lẩu mắm, a fermented-fish hotpot for 2 to 3, so about VND 153,000 to 229,000 for each person eating). Across all 31 dishes, 14 are under VND 100,000, 11 are VND 100,000 to 199,000, 5 are VND 200,000 to 360,000, and one is above VND 360,000.
  • Cá lóc nướng trui (snakehead grilled whole in burning straw) at VND 358,000 sits at the top of the band.

A mâm is a set of dishes laid for the whole table, priced at the sum of single prices minus 5%.

Meal (menu prices) Total Per head
Cá lóc kho tộ (snakehead in a clay pot), morning glory, 2 rice (2 people) VND 276,000 VND 138,000
The same, plus 2 roasted brown rice teas VND 352,000 VND 176,000
Vegetarian mâm (4 people) VND 570,000 VND 142,500
Pair mâm, plus 2 roasted brown rice teas VND 516,000 VND 258,000
Family mâm (4 people) VND 890,000 VND 222,500
Family mâm, plus 4 fresh coconuts VND 1,110,000 VND 277,500
Family mâm, plus 4 coconuts and 4 sweet corn puddings VND 1,302,000 VND 325,500
Round mâm (6 people), plus 6 roasted brown rice teas VND 1,518,000 VND 253,000
Private room mâm (10 people), plus 10 coconuts VND 2,990,000 VND 299,000

With a mâm and drinks, a head at Bếp Rơm comes to about VND 250,000 to 325,000, the upper half of the band above. That is more than the places listing VND 120,000 to 200,000 a person, and we say so. The reasons are things you can check: a private room with no room fee, cooking over wood and straw, an allergen table for every dish, and no service charge. If you want a meal near VND 140,000 a head, the first row does it.

VAT, and when this goes out of date

Our prices include 8% VAT. According to the tax advice page Kế toán Thuận Thiên, restaurant services get VAT cut from 10% to 8% from 1 July 2025 to 31 December 2026 (Resolution 204/2025/QH15, Decree 174/2025/NĐ-CP). We have not opened the legal texts. When the rate changes we update our prices the same day and republish this piece.

How we do it at Bếp Rơm

We print the price of each dish, each mâm and each head, and say prices include VAT, so you can add it up before you book. See the full menu and the set menus. How holds and deposits work is in booking a Vietnamese restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City, and how to order for three generations in family restaurants in Saigon.

The market figures above are data points from pages we read, not statistics. Bếp Rơm's prices are the restaurant's own, recalculated from the menu.
